Biography:

For 40 years, Jim Hyland has devoted his career to insurance defense litigation in which he has represented, at arbitrations, mediations and trials, the interests of insurers, their insureds as well as self-insured entities in a variety of matters including motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, products liability, medical malpractice, medical assistive device liability, lead paint litigation, workers’ compensation and wrongful death actions.

Education:

Attorney Hyland graduated from Boston College in 1984 with a B.A. in History and Political Science. He graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 1990.

Court Admissions:

Attorney Hyland is admitted to practice law in Connecticut (1990), New York (1991), U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York (1992), U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York (1992) and U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut (1993).

Leadership, Memberships & Honors:

Attorney Hyland is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association and an active member in several sections including the Workers’ Compensation Section, Trust and Estates Section and Federal Practice Section. He currently serves on the executive board for the Veterans Military Affairs Section. Attorney Hyland also holds memberships with the New Haven County Bar Association, Greater Bridgeport Area Bar Association, New York State Bar Association and Bar Association of the City of New York. Attorney Hyland is a member of the Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association and the Defense Research Institute. While in law school, he was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award for Estate Administration.
