Biography:
Attorney Burns has practiced law in the New Haven Judicial District for 42 years, primarily in the insurance defense field and civil litigation. She joined Esty & Buckmir, of counsel, in 2025. Most recently, she was a partner at Mulvey, Oliver, Gould & Crotta. She has tried numerous cases to verdict and judgment in state and federal courts. She has served as an arbitrator and mediator for the Superior Court and privately.
Education:
Attorney Burns graduated from Albertus Magnus College in 1980 and Western New England College School of Law in 1983.
Court Admissions:
Attorney Burns is admitted to the Connecticut Bar, US District Court of Connecticut and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
Leadership, Memberships & Honors:
Attorney Burns has been an active member of the New Haven and Connecticut Bar Associations. She served as the elected representative to the House and Board of Governors of the Connecticut Bar and was elected Secretary of the CBA 2008-2009. She is a member of the Board of Friends of New Haven Legal Services. She was appointed by the Connecticut Chief Justice as Chair of the Standing Committee on Recommendations for Admission to the Bar of New Haven and has served as an appointed Investigator for the Judiciary Committee of the Connecticut General Assembly assisting in their review of candidates for Judicial Appointment.
